On the heels of his major label debut Radioactive, Shady Records artist Yelawolf has released of his new free album, Heart of Dixie (This Ain’t No F**kin Mix Tape). The DJ Frank White-hosted and M16-produced project, featuring previously-released cut Let Me Out, is a precursor to forthcoming album Trunk Muzik Returns.

Guess I'm in the minority, I was very unimpressed with the project. The quality was low, and just sounded half-baked in my opinion.
Only exception being Out My Face, where Yela, Rittz, and Shawty Fatt blended perfectly together on the beat. There's needs to be a Slumerican equivalent to Self Made to showcase these guys, or at least a mixtape. Everything else was ass, with Whiteboy Shit and Sobriety Sucks being the first songs I've ever skipped on a first listen of a project that wasn't a song produced by will.i.am (and I'm white and rarely sober, so those tracks should appeal to me!) |

I honestly wasnt feelin it. It was definitely old Yela, but the quality of the mixtape was shitty. I liked the flows and lyrics, but its just the quality that killed it for me.

Tho this album feels like the production is lacking, the versatility in yela's bars has him returning to that trunk muzik feel. Its a pitty interscope is sleeping on him.

For those of you complaining about the quality of this mixtape, keep in mind that this entire thing was recorded in the back of his tour base while he was on tour. This means that after he got done on stage entertaining you, he went back to the tour bus to drop more tracks, to entertain you. Don't believe me? Watch the recent interview with DJ Skee. So, make sure you know the specifics of something before you make judgments.

Love Yelawolf...... Hate the idiot who screwed up the mixes. And damn whoever got the mastering job and didn't want it. Somebody should't have let this get out in the condition it was. I just KNOW Yela's standards in quality are higher than this. What happened? Cool songs, but damn.... they're tarnished by the poor quality.
