New Jersey-based producer ILL TAL has come together with The DJBooth to bring listeners his latest beat tape, Trapped in the '90s.
Inspired by a line from "Loco-motive," a joint off Nas' Life Is Good LP, the project finds ILL employing vintage equipment, old-school production techniques and crates of vinyl as he endeavors to recapture that classic, 1990s sound.

Uhhhh, more please? I really hope hiphop moves back towards this sound. The new crap sucks..... real bad.

Hip hop isn't dead it's just trapped in the 90's. Illtal truly out does himself with this compilation. If this collection doesn't make you want to spit a verse or two, rob a bodega and jack a car, then you're probably a Nicki Minaj listening hipster and you should kill yourself. Not only does "trapped in the 90's" give you a nostalgic trip down memory lane, but it gives you hope that real hip hop is back and is here to stay. Shot out to Illtal for bringing it back to tims and karl kani.

In this day in age I find myself tuning in to hiphop radio stations or the so-called "hottest" mixtapes and my only response is a big "Sigh". Then I download this album and hit play as I drive and it's a def breath a fresh air. Perfect reflection of the last era where Hiphop was raw and it felt great saying your a fan. Now this album knocks and is a headbanger. Big ups to Illtal for putting this together! Perhaps the best album I copped to finish 2012 off! Hotness
