Has there been a solo hip-hop artist in the last five years, who has released more free (quality) music than Curren$y? The answer to this question is a simple "no." Spitta, the rap gift who keeps on giving, has released yet another free project, entitled New Jet City. Lead by standout single selection "Choosin," the post-Super Bowl™ release includes guest features courtesy of Jadakiss, Lloyd, Rick Ross, Trinidad Jame$, Wiz Khalifa and Young Roddy. Production credits on New Jet City will include Cardo, DJ Toomp, Harry Fraud, Lex Luger, Statik Selektah and others.

Curren$y ft. French Montana - These Bitches
You can usually tell the quality of a film by the time it takes for it to be released to DVD. If it’s Oscar-quality it might be a long wait, but the latest cliché chick flick (or that awful new Steve Carell movie) will...Read More
Curren$y - Mary
Curren$y might be #1 seed in the Rapper Smokers Tournament, but he isn’t exactly your typical stoner. Sure he sparks it up first thing in the morning (and throughout the rest of the day), but he is also one of the...Read More
Curren$y ft. Juicy J - Three 60
On We Gonna Make It, a single off his 2001 debut full-length, Jadakiss boasted of his ingenious methods of hiding coke from the five-oh, spitting, “My bathtub lift up, my walls do a Three 60.” Curren$y liked the idea so...Read More

Good mixtape, it has a few tracks that have replay value. I was very sad to see that he worked with French Montana, I personally believe the guy is the next best thing to terrible. So that immediately dropped in one star because of that. New Jet City should have featured more tracks with Trade and Roddy also, but it's worth a download and Spitta definitely gets props for his consistency in the studio. Hardest working ***** alive.

Was hoping for more from this tape. Currency is on point as always, great flow - but the beats are underwhelming (even for a chill tape), and the features are largely throwaways.

A few dope songs, the rest are pretty average. Nothin to shabby for a free mixtape dough

It gets better with every listen.
I you are looking for intellectual gems, wordplay and lyrical gymnastics it is not here - go get that Kendrick stuff. Currensy has always been about the experience and feel of the album. And this here has the vibe just right. |
